How to Store and Care for Lingerie, Sleepwear and Delicate Pieces

Lingerie and delicate clothing can be easy to overlook when organizing a wardrobe. Bras get pushed into drawers, hosiery ends up tangled, and sleepwear can disappear beneath everyday clothes. A little structure makes these pieces easier to find and helps prevent unnecessary wear from poor storage or rushed laundry routines.

The best system does not need to be complicated. A few separate areas for different categories, sensible washing habits, and enough space to keep items from becoming crushed can make a noticeable difference.

Give Bras Enough Space

Bras are easier to store when they are not folded tightly or stuffed into an overfilled drawer. If they have molded cups, avoid turning one cup inside out and pressing it into the other, as this can distort the shape.

Instead, lay bras flat or stack them gently with the cups facing the same direction. Fastening the hooks before putting them away can also help prevent them from catching on other garments.

Separate Delicate Pieces

Lace lingerie, hosiery, and other delicate garments benefit from being kept away from rougher items with hooks, zippers, or other hardware. A drawer divider or small fabric organizer can make separate sections without requiring a large wardrobe.

Hosiery is particularly easy to damage when mixed into a crowded drawer. Fold or roll pairs carefully and keep them together so they are easy to find when needed.

Pay Attention to Washing

Always check the care instructions on individual garments before washing them. Different fabrics and construction details can require different approaches.
